That is a very nice turn of phrase. I actually have no money left for buying gasoline after stocking the wee cottage with food and in general keeping the wolf away from the door. There are whole families hunkered down under bridges where I live, and we have five pets so it would get a bit crowded under there.

I have heard privately from quite a few SI people who are not doing as well since the last recession (the one we have supposedly already recovered from) began. Since I am not a faith-based person, I can only logically ponder the remote possibility that George Bush will retire the huge deficit he ran up and get the economy going again, with family wage jobs that have good health benefits. It amazes me how many people just voted their belief systems instead of their financial best interests. It is too bad there isn't some sort of magical kingdom where only the people who voted for him will suffer . . . and suffering there will be.
