The answers are exactly as I expected. It is at this point where it becomes a small strip of land with warring peoples on it NONE OF WHOM IMO have any claim to anything for any length of time. I believe that no one owns anything in perpetuity and, heck, land masses change over time anyway.

What disturbs me most of all is the amount of chaos, divisiveness, death, destruction and resources spent on this small strip of land with a few million people. I know it's important TO THEM but why is it so critical to 6.5 billion people who are NOT THEM?

It's a curious thing.

WWIII will not be about Israel but will be over something a lot more important and practical: OIL. My vote, given the current state of affairs, is on China with 3 times the number of people and 3 times the GDP.

The USA is IMO at the beginning of a long, slow slide into 2nd class country status right behind the largely irrelevant Brits. It happens to all countries eventually, who knew we could see it in our lifetime.

At any rate, we're all distantly related cousins so, in the end, it really doesn't matter who prevails. Ted Turner thinks there's a 50/50 chance of the human race surviving another 50 years. Given recent events and the increased (rather than decreased) belligerence of people everywhere, I believe he has a very rational point of view on the subject.
