Ted,

The author clearly captures accurately how I feel. I have spent last few days stunned, dissappointed and introspecting on how it could go so wrong for dems after what I perceived the last 4 years to be worst case of mismanagement, one can imagine.

Some things are now very obvious - Middle america thinks very different from the coastal cities. Things are a no-brainer for me (like rights gay/marriage, pro-choice, environment, etc) are a ticking time-bomb for them. Similarily, things that get me going (Iraq war and unnecessary deaths) are no big deal for middle america. While we may be able to trace the source of our diference, I am not sure how we can bridge that. Do we stop believing that attacking Iraq and killing civilian (and losing our soldiers) is alright and support the president in a wrong war ? Do we suppress womens right to chose ? Go anti gay/lesbian rights ? Dont fight for environment ?

I'd have to say, its pretty hard. There dont seem to be a whole lot of common ground to agree upon at this point.

Bum.
