I am now backing off on whither it is a good idea to dump Spector as Chairman. The downside is that he would no longer feel any compunction to vote for Bush's nominees. Also, he could pull the 3 or 4 other moderate Republican Senators with him. That would give the Dems the ability to filibuster. Better the "devil you know."
