Beach Bum, While we may be able to trace the source of our diference, I am not sure how we can bridge that.

As a conservative who has lived in "blue states" all his life (though not necessarily as a conservative throughout it all), I can tell you that I'd just rather stick to my beliefs and live my life, even if most people around me don't think the same way I do. I can't change the world, but I can perhaps influence the world around me, just by living the best example that I can.

As for liberals who do live in "blue states" and are miffed that the federal government is being controlled by the "red states," at least they can still implement their form of liberalism at the state level. Or even at the local level (which to me is probably the only level at which liberalism truly works). Besides, Democrats still have 45 seats in the Senate, which is plenty for filibustering. I suggest, however, that they not abuse the filibuster, lest they want to see their influence shrink even further.
