Following John Kerry's defeat in the US Election, punters are banking on Hillary Clinton emerging as the Democrats' next contender for the White House, say bookmakers William Hill who have taken so many bets for her to be the next elected US President that they have had to install her as clear favourite at 6/1.

'The Clinton factor looks certain to play a big role in the 2008 campaign and the only other serious support for an individual candidate so far has been for Arnold Schwarzenegger - it would require a change in the law but he has been baacked from 500/1 to 66/1 to become President' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills make the Republicans 8/11 favourites to win again next time with the Democrats Even money shots.
