I believe you should first talk to an immigration lawyer. Or if you are that good, become one yourself! May I recommend www.immigrationflorida.com and then do your homework first.
Assuming your European friends working in the US made it here during the last 5-8 years they are no dummies but well educated people with specific skills and as such certainly not at home in the lower income brackets. All of which makes things just a little bit easier.

Immigration from Mexico thrives on having close family in the US already or being part of that large amount of illegals being "legalized" every 10 years or so. Don't I know that from San Diego.

But just like your Dutch and German friends working in the US are no dummies I bet you are on their level and know all this quite well. Just enjoying the polemics of the subject, right?

I know this may come as a shocker to you but my friends are people who experienced wunderlust growing up. They are much like the Americans living abroad. They want to experience other cultures....broaden their resume etc. They all plan to go back eventually. Two of my friends are moving back this December. Her biological clock is ticking and she wants to have children. He is taking a pay cut to go back.......they are both working in Mexico City. They never intended to stay in the US or Mexico forever. And when we've talked about the subject....few Germans or Dutch want to emigrate to the US permanently. They find the US interesting and carrying some benefits but not enough to emigrate here. I wish it were the opposite........I am very close to the two Germans going back and I will miss them a great deal.

We attract the poor from other countries, not the people who are comfortable. Most western Europeans are comfortable. they have no interest in moving here. This is not news. I am unclear why you argue the point.
