Besides, at one time, people were saying that God supported the idea of slavery; others that it was God's wish for women not to vote. Times change........we become more sophisticated and open, and suddenly, it doesn't seem like God would think a particular way.
God was exceedingly specific about homosexuals. He called it an abomination. There are some core Christian beliefs that are not changeable, such as the ten commandments. It's not really a matter for debate. If you are Christian, there is no debate. It's wrong and that's that. If you are not a Christian, I imagine all sorts of things are permissable, including sex with a goat if that's what turns you on.
There are many more signs that our culture is sick and getting sicker.
I couldn't agree with you more. I personally believe that our culture is sick because morality has been cast aside by today's generation. Bring back morality and you bring back the ethos that made this country great in the first place. Have you ever noticed that the people most admired in history are typically self-less, hard working, humble, gratious, uncompromising when it comes to core values, and were tested greatly in their lives in a public way? This is no accident. These are Christian values. You don't find many people in history that were admired for their hedonism, selfishness, arrogance, and liberal ideals. That's because as a whole most people know the difference between right and wrong and althought they may consciously do the wrong thing, they don't admire those actions in themselves or in other people. Again, I say that Christian values can heal what's wrong with this country, but it doesn't have to be an extreme lurch to the right, rather it can be a gentle nudge from parents to their children. |
