Any time differences are highlighted and condemned, people lose their freedoms.

It is possible that highlighting differences can lead to a situation where you have an intolerant climate, and that can eventually lead to someone losing their freedom, but highlighting diffences in and of itself isn't taking away their freedom. If you lock them up for trying to have a wedding ceremony then you are taking away their freedom, if you crash the ceremony and beat them over the head you are abusing their freedom. If you say A and B get a certain government benefit, but C and D don't you aren't taking away their freedom.

What you don't understand is that it is taking away one's freedom when you allow privileges to one person and not another. But enough of gay marriage....I will not use a minority to defuse the situation. Our differences go much deeper than gay marriage.
