Gustave, a friend of mine said she felt unusual pressure in Texas because she only had one child and was also career-minded, not just family-minded. She said, "one child was considered weird there, two was considered sort of weird, while three was considered a normal family." In California, there seems to be the reverse bias. (I don't think either bias is good - people should just do what works for them and others should respect the differences.)
Do you think the birth rate in the Red states is higher than the Blue states? (I'm making no judgment here. Am simply curious about trends.) Now, birth rate is different than population growth. For example, in the state I grew up in, while the birth rate may be higher, the exodus of the career-minded people for better opportunity is high, making the population growth look rather flat I believe. So, it's the birth rate I'm curious about, not the population growth rate. Basically, what's the demographic trend? Will America increasingly head towards a Red trend due to a higher birth rate?
Or, is it simply a matter of alternating cycles, or of letting the Red states get caught up to the Blue states?
