Did MJ get you fixed up on that?

Basically 1 unit is whatever you care to call it. $1, $10, or in MJ's case a nickel.

So you can use the number as a multiplier to your regular bet size which is your unit. Leave Mrs. Gloop out of it.

Now, in order to win 1 unit you need to bet 1.1 units. So that is why a loss is recorded at 1.1 units and a win at 1.0 units.

Finally, moneyline bets are a multiplier. Falcons +165. That means you bet 1.0 units to win 1.65 units.
