Amy, 48% of the voters did not vote for Bush. Bush won by the narrowest victory since 1916.

Narrowest victory? By what measure? He won the popular vote this time, as well as a true majority of the vote. Even Clinton didn't get more than a plurality of the vote.

Bush has won as much of a "mandate" as he could have hoped for. The least you could do is give him some room to prescribe some bitter medicines that the country desperately needs.
