Actually the drug companies are evil. Merck has apparently conspired with the FDA to hide the cause of the deaths and heart attacks of 27,000 users of its arthritis medication. That's not evil? Republicans, who want tort reform, cannot include themselves or their relatives or their cronies or friends in any compensation from Merck, the FDA or any other companies peddling the same death-delivering drugs. Otherwise, that's called pure hypocrisy. Drug companies want this: - US funds and grants for basic research which they they turn around and peddle for profit - Government welfare to guarantee profit increases: Medicare bill - No negotiating for prices: Medicare bill - Help from the FDA to cover up bad results from tests: Vioxx et al - No responsibility whatsoever for the deaths and damage done for its products: tort reform - Death of capitalism: kill the generics with patent extensions Drug companies ALWAYS want drugs which are taken in large, expensive doses for very long periods of time. That's where the profit is. They don't want to CURE ANYTHING. That isn't profitable.
