BONN, Aug 28 (Reuter) - Computer chip maker Intel Corp
(NASDAQ:INTC). (NASDAQ:INTC) said on Thursday a German broadcaster planned
to use Intel technology to deliver television programmes
packaged with Internet data to personal computers.
Public broadcaster ZDF planned to begin broadcasting
programmes next month that viewers could watch on home PCs --
while receiving related information selected from the Internet
by ZDF, Intel said.
"The PC is becoming a new medium," said Jens Bodenkamp,
director of business development at Intel Europe. "When it comes
to information gathering, we think this will increase value for
the viewer."
ZDF's first planned use of Intel Intercast technology is in
its "Wiso" consumer affairs programme. MTV occasionally uses the
technology to provide biographical, concert and recording
information to viewers watching its music videos.
In the future, Intel expects the technology to allow
broadcasters to package player statistics and historical records
with sporting events, geographical data with news shows, and
product information with home-shopping programmes.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Infoseek Corporation
(Nasdaq: SEEK) and The Microsoft Network, L.L.C. (MSN) have announced key
partnerships to further leverage two of the strongest brands on the Internet.
As part of its European offerings, MSN will position Infoseek as a recommended
search provider on its Germany, France and United Kingdom (U.K.) sites.
Furthermore, Infoseek has designated MSN as its exclusive advertising sales
agent in France and the U.K., bringing top-notch, local expertise to
Infoseek's European ad sales efforts.
"Infoseek and Microsoft already share a solid working relationship in the
United States, and these agreements represent our unified commitment to the
rapidly growing European market," said Harry M. Motro, Infoseek president and
CEO.
"Infoseek's objective is to expand our brand overseas by building strong
relationships with quality brands such as MSN, which share our partnering
philosophy."

Premier Position Agreement
Under terms of the premier position agreement, MSN will list Infoseek as
the default search and navigation service on the Free Search Referral Page of
MSN's Germany, France and U.K. sites for three months. For an additional
three months, Infoseek will occupy the second position. Additionally,
Infoseek will develop localized ActiveX(TM) Controls for its Germany, France
and U.K. sites, using Microsoft ActiveX technologies.

Sales Agent Agreement
To maximize the sales and marketing of banner advertising for Infoseek in
France and the U.K., Infoseek has designated MSN as its exclusive advertising
sales agent in these countries. In the arrangement, MSN employees are
responsible for the solicitation and sale of interactive banner advertising on
Infoseek France and Infoseek U.K.
"We were looking for local representatives with proven track records in
France and the U.K.," said Robert Formentin, Infoseek International Sales
manager. "The MSN sales staff has demonstrated that they can fill this role,
and Infoseek looks forward to increased brand awareness through our
affiliation with a company that continues to grow and succeed in Europe."
This agreement with Microsoft is another initiative in Infoseek's efforts
to extend its services and brand worldwide. Infoseek now has localized
versions of its service in Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain,
Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Brazil and Italy. All these sites are
accessible from Infoseek's service at www.infoseek.com.
