Remember this is that country that among other things: Deliberately targeted most Japanese cities for destruction during World War 2 killing nearly a million civilians in 1944 and 1945. The attack on Pearl Harbor, by contrast, was aimed exclusively at military facilities and almost all the few thousand Americans killed were military personnel. A Gallup survey taken near the end of the war showed that a fair proportion of the American populace (something like 15-20%) favored the total extermination of the Japanese race -- some 70 million people at that time. These Americans made Hitter who wanted to exterminate only 15 million or so Jews look like a piker. Dropped more bomb tonnage on the hapless people of southeast Asia during the Vietnam war than all the bombs dropped by all sides during World War 2. Several million civilians perished in the bombings and the countless massacres committed by US troops. The slaughter going on in Iraq today is entirely consistent with the history a nation whose savagery over the decades in many foreign lands has seldom been surpassed.
