Well, that's actually interesting. I admit I don't see many of X's posts, but I've seen some of the exchanges, and I did see what happened here, and that struck me as not reflecting at all well on the X antagonists.
It's actually very interesting literarily, as you describe it, and I have missed it, if you're accurate in your description.
It's also possible that it's a chicken and egg situation: that you see it as you've just described it, but that from S's POV someone thrusts themselves into her face in a personal way in what is supposed to be a political conversation, and she is responding to, not initiating, the X-factor.
