Dean had a message. But he was not Presidential. Kerry was Presidential and he did not quite have a "distinct" message.

Bush had no message and in light of the above the American people had the only choice of more of the same which is chase the "ghost of terrorism."

Granted that OBL is too big of a fish for the US to hunt down and capture. Do you think that will at least capture Zarqawi. We have to wait and see the outcome in Fallujah.

And that is what is scary. Is Bush really winning the war on terrorism? Are the terrorists really going away? I would say no. On the contrary they are increasing with every day that goes by with America fighting the war alone.
