Did they say how much Japan is dependent on China's buildup and US consumer?

Japan is largely a closed economy – only 13% of GDP is driven by exports of which China is only 12%. The biggest driver of the economy is the corporate restructuring and closing excess capacity which has largely happened. There is a big divergence between the heavily export orientated big cap stocks (hence brokers/fund managers) always weighted to the export story given they are pushing index stocks and the real economy which is largely domestic driven. The more important issue to watch is loans growth and employment numbers. Loans growth should turn +ve in 1H05 & unemployment numbers continue to fall.

I hope this helps both you and dpl.
