Yes, there is an annual surplus (almost $200 Billion this year).

This is part of the problem - there is too much misinformation being disseminated. There is no money in the Trust Fund (I think that is what you are suggesting), but the structure of SS is not the current problem - it is the fiscal irresponsibility of the current Administration.

I am done with this issue for now.
