Re: Strom Thurmond was no Hitler. He apparently wasn't even a member of the KKK unlike Byrd, and Lott is/was not a neo-nazi or anything similar. But all Adolf Hitler wanted to do was to turn Europe into another Bible Belt... Hitler too was an admirer of the Deep South... his only prblem was that he couldn't segregate Europe along a white/black color line because at the time (the 1930s), there weren't any black people in Europe!! So he picked instead the Communists, the Jews (well, not all of them []), the Gypsies, etc... I seem to know there's a big statue of Jefferson Davis in Richmond, a tribute to a great Southern hero... well, fine, but you Southern bigots might as well erect a statue of Hitler alongside Davis's --both are historical/ideological twins....
