Things that should be laughed at like that study are taken seriously by to many people. I know the other fraudulent or satirical "studies" mentioned in the Snopes pages that I linked to were taken seriously by many on the left. Directly pointing out that it is at best flawed and most likely a fraud or satire is a useful service.

Also even jokes often make points. In this case the point is probably false or mostly false. The point deserved to be answered even if people where aware that it was a joke or fraud.
