Bush II called for a holy war against the so-called "axis of evil" in a continuation of western intervention in the ME. The mullahs are a result of US intervention that stems as far back as the 50s. There is a direct line between the fall of Mossadeq in the 50s and the present situation in Iran.

In addition you have to try to see things from the Iranian point of view: Russia(with WMDs) on one border, Israel(with WMDs) on another border, and Iraq(with the US and its WMDs) on the third border along with North Korea(with its WMDs) which is being treated quite differently.

No I don't agree that the US has a "right" to intervene. They have a right to defend it self. This does not in normal parlance mean that one has the right to intervene. In new speak of course one can mean what ever one wants to mean.
