Personally, I think re-importation is the wrong way to go, since if the goal is lower prices, then we should just impose price controls here. Re-importation would only amount to the worst of all worlds, and no one other than the bureaucrats will like it.

Why do you say that? We would be closer to the free market if re-importation is allowed. It is not a good thing for Americans to pay the entire R&D bill. The drug companies will end up lowering the American prices and / or increasing foreign prices, most likely a combination of the 2.

As far as price controls, (foreign and domestic), at some price point the drug companies will just say "no".
