Then there's the time when Marquis de Montcalm permitted surrendering British to depart with arms if they agreed to surrender Ft. William Henry. Then he told his Indian contingent where they might collect some easy scalps. And they did.

Of course, they later did provide General Washington with young Mister Lafayette, who if I'm not mistaken might have been wounded or defeated, but never surrendered.

Anyway, Lafayette, a Frenchman, was a genuine American hero.

Yes but the French are very experienced with surrender and running. I would guess they can evacuate better then all other nations combined so this should be right up their ally.
