Agreed. I honestly believe Bush's heart is in the right place and I more often than not agree with the decisions he makes regarding direction and vision. But his execution is so poor, it just plain pisses me off. America is the greatest, wealthiest, most powerful nation on earth. We have some of the brightest, most educated, most accomplished people on earth. We simply deserve a better President than Bush. We deserve a master statesman, a master public speaker, a master multitasker, a master tactician. We have every right to demand and elect a Roosevelt or a Lincoln or a Washington. It makes me very sad when the best we can do is put someone like Bush forward as our representative.
And again, I am Republican to the core, but Bush is not the best by a long shot.
BTW, a liberal math professor stood up at one of Kerry's speeches and asked Kerry whether he would bring our troops home right away were he to be elected. Kerry's answer surprised all the liberals in the room, who expected a resounding YES. Instead, Kerry replied, "Sir, we are where we are. We cannot leave Iraq until the job is done. We cannot leave Iraq until our troops can come home with the honor they deserve, leaving behind them a free, sovereign Iraq, with a newly elected government that lives in peace with its neighbors."
After that speech, I started to get won over by Kerry, because I saw in him a moderate closer to the middle than most Democrats, despite the broad liberal label the Bush administration was trying to paint him with. Anyway, to this day, I still believe Kerry would have been better for this countries foreign policy than Bush.
But I'm not unhappy with Bush, because I think Bush is going to be far better for this country domestically, including privatizing social security, tax reform, legalizing recognition of immigrants so they pay taxes, cutting back on regulation of business, creating more competition among pharmacutical companies, etc. |
