Z indicates that everyone he talks to is upset about the election and has considered secession. The Canadian gov't got a huge increase in hits on its website last week. Many people on SI have PM'd suggesting that they are thinking of leaving the US. This is all anecdotal but its an indication of something.

Its an indication of anger and frustration and highly partisan thinking but probably little else. Viewing a Canadian immigration page or talking about secession is one thing. Actually leaving the country is something else and actually voting for or trying to force the breakup of the country is even more extreme. I imagine if secession ever actually came to a vote (and I doubt it will even get that far) it would get less support than Nader did in the last election.

And these are not people who normally are partisan.

I believe almost everyone calling for secession is indeed highly partisan, but its not clear you are talking about such people rather than just people who are angry with Bush. I do think things have been becoming more partisan for quite some time now (decades not just years), so its not surprising to see people who used to not be very partisan becoming partisan.

Sorry but I don't think Mr. Blandley[sp?] is reading the little guy on the left very well.

Blankley

I don't think he's talking about "the little guy on the left", the only way to get to your conclusion from what he says is if you assume that "the little guy on the left" thinks that Bush and his supporters "are simply hate-filled bigots who have no place in America". While American continues to get more partisan, I disagree with you if you are asserting that this is what a strong majority of Democrats think.

I can't predict what's going to happen over the next few years, but if Bush behaves like he has these past 4, then I suspect there may be some serious problems.

"Serious problems" can mean many different things but I doubt that our nation's problems will increase greatly in the next 4 years.
