Thanks, Mindmeld. There is hope after all. I'm also reminded that Islam is a religion of prophets, which means the violent aspects of the Quran can somehow be made "obsolete."

It works very much the same way the Catholic church works. They continually try to update the religion based on the growth of society. It's still slow moving, but at least the Catholic church has grown.

I've got some problems with the way the Catholic church works, but then again, I'm not Catholic, and I think my personal "priorities" regarding my faith might be somewhat different. I do agree, however, that most of the mainstream religions have done well adapting to the modern age, except maybe for Islam (and perhaps Hinduism to a certain extent).
