regards being surrounded by 100 Bhuddists ...not if it was Korea 1953 or Nanking 1939 or Tibet in 1975.... Bhuddists are not immune to evil thoughts and deeds if they believe and are instructed by their elders/leaders to destroy all before them in order to purify...... I thought I was very specific in my statement in that I was talking about American Buddhists and here (i.e. US) and now. As I have said many times, the man is a lot more important than his ideology. Certainly Buddhism is no magic bullet to cure the evil in the world. On the other hand, I have never met American Buddhists who were bad people. In other words, there is something in modern Buddhism that attracts good people and dare I say even makes them better. For this reason alone, I'd rather belong to this community than other religious communities. One of the more ironic points in my life was when I was debating Christianity and Buddhism with a Chinese student. I was for Buddhism and he was a member of Christian Chinese Student Fellowship. It was different. ST
