Pierre, is it possible that as long as you are being so kind as to send me that tape, you would include in the packet an example of any color printing, especially of photography, that is superior to Presstek's? If that is not possibly, could you refer me to any source, any printed item likely to be obtainable through the New York State library system(on which our local library can draw?) Much earlier on this thread I asked repeatedly for a reference to any such printed matter. I believe I asked you for assistance in locating such a printing specimen, and I know for certain that I virtually begged John/Cleve to refer me to one, give me a number to call, anything. None was forthcoming. No example was cited. I asked then and I ask now because I do have samples of Presstek's absolutely spectacular, vivid, chrystal-clear photographic printing, printing more beautiful than any I have seen in any fine arts book, and I wanted, and still want, to compare the beautiful quality of Presstek's printing with that of any competitor. (I admitted at that time that I felt a little embarrassed to talk in such non-technical terms about the Presstek results, using words like "beautiful," and "spectacular," and "startlingly clear," instead of talking about dots and resolutions. But in one career incarnation I was a designer and colorist, and I can't help but pay close attention to, for example, the quality of the color or the amount of detail contained in a printing sample.)
Can Pierre or anyone who reads this thread do now what no one could do when last such claims as Pierre's were being made, show me print samples superior to those made with the Presstek plate; and indicate their relative cost to the printer? |
