Sorry about your schools. Mine taught the Indians were here first and were pushed aside by immigrants from grade school on. And manifest destiny was taught as bad joke. And it was taught that blacks came here unwillingly and enslaved. Why, they even taught a war was fought- -a really bad one- -to end that slavery.

I think what bothers me most is that the U.S.Army drove herds of buffalo over cliffs so the Indian tribes would starve to death.
They also left behind clothing and blankets with communicable diseases on them- -early biological warfare.

But is what they did really any different that what went into the settle of oh-so-civilized Europe? Remember the Huns and the Vandals and the Vikings and the Picts and the Norman Conquest?

History isn't pretty and it isn't going to change because you don't like it.

Then I think we should somehow compensate all the descendants of former slaves and Native Americans without simply giving them cash which, unfortunately, often goes just to kill their multi-generational pain.
The past is dead. It's not for sale anymore.
