We are so polarized that people have stopped trying to communicate. Rarely to sides even bother to explain their positions.

The people have spoken and the current administration has been re-elected. There is no question about that. However, the margin of victory is not as great as some on the right would have us think. Relatively speaking, a handful of votes going in the other direction in Ohio would have changed the results of the election. I have seen ungracious bumper stickers extolling this victory.

IMO the truth about the consequences of the war in Iraq has not reached most of the electorate. The electorate in this case is a lagging indicator. News in this country travels from east to west. Lifestyles travel from west to east. The red states inevitably lag.
