Alleged is a word used in law all the time.

It is also a word used frequently by the media to avoid defamation claims. "Voter fraud allegedly took place in..." "The defendant allegedly shot the victim as he jogged..."

It was alleged that O.J. killed Nicole and Ron.. It was never proved. Yet I will continue to believe that he did it.

It was proved. Only not to the 12 people who mattered - those bozos in the jury box who bought Johnny Cochranes snake oil.
