As part of my financial cleanup I moved my Dell stock to a single account. Several years ago Dell kept switching their providers for purchase plans and I ended up with shares scattered in a bunch of different places. The real kicker is that all of these places have an interface through touch-tone phones to manipulate your shares and in each case you have to put in your badge number as an id. Of course they took my badge when I was layed off and I ultimately forgot the number, so the shares have just been sitting around in all these differnent financial firms.

I finally resolved to straighten it out and spent hours on the phone with Dell and E*Trade and Chase and a couple of other places and then sent faxes with all the pertinent DTC numbers and resurected badge numbers. It should all be simpler by this time next week.
