You've got the dispute down, so what are the answers? <g> A line in the womb is bound to be as arbitrary as the line between the womb and the big wide world. I lean toward the opinion these days that the distinction is a purely social invention, so the only relevant calculus may be what we will as a society. Make it a pragmatic political decision and give up on the ethics arguments, which are probably intractible.
