Okay, that's fair.

Sounds awfully familiar to another so-called violent religion.

So, I still have to strongly agree with Mindmeld - all religions need to update their materials to the 21st century and cut the barbaric violence from printed material. (At least make it PG for children to read.)

Otherwise, it's fodder for the wackos out there. While moderates may have a legitimate excuse for including the violence in the text, people of other religions will point to the violent text as evidence of their religion's violence and say, "see how violent their religion is." And it certainly would look as if it is, especially if extremists acted out their violence.
