As I've posted before, there is much to be criticized on both sides. It's easy to sit back in the relative comfort of the US and say this is what Israel should do as a nation under siege from cowardly terrorists.
It's time to look forward. That author may think that the Palestinians have tried but the reality speaks louder than his words.
The face of Hamas and the other terror groups speaks louder than a couple of non-violent spokesmen who may be willing to sit down with those who believe similarly in Israel.
The face of the PLO is now being revealed fully as one of unimaginable corruption and intrigue, replete with sexual and personal motivations, that, on the bottom line, come down to money and greed.
The real anvil over the head of the Palestinian people are the corrupt leaders who manipulate them, perhaps in the most cynical way that a group has been used, throughout history.
Look at the billions that have been squirreled away by the FOA (friends of Arafat). As the truth comes out, it is clear that Arafat and his circle were able to extort the billions from the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, the Euros and the US. This money could have brought the people happiness and comfort. BUT, a content and happy people would take away the power and continuing flow of money from these corrupt tyrants. Then, the focus would be on the OILogarchs and other corrupt rulers in this cesspool of theft. Much better to have the demon take the form of the "infidel" than the corrupt ruler.
Instead of having billions of dollars for their benefit, the Palestinians were stuck in virtual economic slavery, used as tools as a "commercial" for what is wrong with Israel. Propagandists took these commercials and ran with them on message boards and in the publications that you cite.
So, the rhetoric falls on deaf ears. We, in the US, and the administration, know that the terrorists need to be stopped. It will be up to the Palestinians to produce leaders that can reign in the terror, and who are actually authorized to negotiate.
We saw how Arafat pulled the plug on each of his own hand-picked PM's, when they even uttered the word "negotiate." Now that he is gone and exposed as a corrupt and perverted terrorist, perhaps these moderates will realize that they need to drop the rhetoric and start to really show that they are fit to join the human race, leaving behind the terror that they have encouraged by their silence in the face of corruption and the cynical manipulation of their own people. |
