Thats very true. Back then, we figured out how to survive the ordeal and have fun with it...now its automatically victim status.

The secret was to get a hold of one of the small balls that you could palm in your hand and use for blocking and defense.

And of course it was very handy for hunting down those you hated with the cross court diagonal throw to the blind side of someones cheek.

That was the "holy grail" of high school murderball paybacks.

I don't look back with bad feelings about this stuff...its ridiculous. We loved it. I would argue it offered lessons and allowed venting of aggressions that could be displayed in much worse ways.
