a few ideas

to accept that we don't all think alike and never will

to accept that no one group will have it all their way

hence to be more understanding/tolerant to those who rightfully see things differently

to give merit to that, even if you do not agree

rational discussion of issues

to concentrate and focus on our common goals as Americans

strive towards that together, give and take, compromise, civil dialog

be willing to change your position, grow

accept diversity

stand together and make politicians accountable

I don't actually have any Republican friends or relatives, and from the signs in their yards my neighbors are all Democrats as well.

I live in a very diversified neighborhood and like that - I also like that America is the world melting pot, the diversity of culture and ethnicity that it offers - I think it keeps me growing

my father is a dyed in the wool democrat [I'm not] - during the last Clinton/Gore election, when they won, my father bought me the Clinton/Gore Blue Dog [I love the Blue Dog work] inaugural poster - I fussed and he said my cat was a democrat so I should hang it over his litter box

humor diffuses so much

personally? I would never allow an election to devastate me

life is too short and in four years it can be a completely different picture
