Face the truth - you could care less about civilian lives if it is not ours. Depends on who you listen to and where you choose to rationalise. Do we count loss of lives as a result of sanctions ? BTW, the war is not over. I dont think we have seen the end of civilian deaths yet, unfortunately. In the end, it all depends on who is more powerful, who controls the media and who writes the history book. The winner takes all and will justify their action. Always has been that way and still is - even in the days of globalization and internet, where we have the benefit of listening to more than one side of the story. "More importantly, the insertion of a free[er] country in the center of the Middle East will clearly have long-lasting, positive consequences. " Thats your view and I call it impractical and hypocritical. My take is, leave them alone, unless we are 'truly' invited. Dont impose our value system on them. Look deeper and identify the root cause - Oil and our lifestyle. We dont meddle with dictators in Africa, even when they kill their civilians. So stop this hypocracy of liberating the world. Find an alternate source of energy and reduce dependencies on Oil - something we haven't been able to achieve for over 20 years now. Bum.
