You don't have to, coug, that's okay, especially since it would seem that (if it was indeed I who "flamed" you), it was based on my misunderstanding the import of your post. To "flame" someone who's posting in support of one is kind of dumb. It wouldn't be the first time I've done something dumb, though.
I guess they have nothing better to do......I have better things to do..
I suspect that you just don't much enjoy the process of argument. I personally enjoy it. When my sister and I were growing up, arguing around the dinner table was a family recreation. Some people join debating clubs, but I like to discuss, or argue about, subjects I personally care about.
To someone who doesn't enjoy argument, it's hard to explain the fun of it. But I like seeing positions gradually clarified, and I very much like to see the implications of them made explicit. That often happens, in an extended argument, and it's a satisfying thing. Those who don't enjoy it should of course not participate. |
