What about Cholesteric LCDs? I hear they are producing 200dpi, 24bit displays fast enough for 30fps video with no backlighting neccessary. And it retains the image with power removed so no refresh is required. 0.1 the power consumption of Active Matrix with hiigh yields, about a 20% premium in manufacturing costs over passive matrix. Anyone have more info? Rumor has it IBM and Sony are licensing. Kent State is the place.
