If intelligence rather than the ability to get votes was the criteria determining who is fit to be president, your president would never have been elected. But as they say, never overestimate the intelligence of the american voter. As for the Shah, he was installed with help from the CIA in 1952, eliminating an opponent who was bent on nationalizing the Iranian oil industry and democratizing the govt. Instead, the Shah gave complete control to the US, Bitain and a couple of others who split ALL the profits. So in Iran, the US opted for control of the oil instead of democracy, leading inevitably to the Shah's demise and the revenge of the mullahs. Bearing this in mind, how does our adventure in Iraq look now?
