That isn't really true. There are tribe and clan like structures in Iraq. I know in some of the Sunni areas they are rather important. I don't know how prominent they are among the Shia and the Kurds.


Not tribes in the sense of SA........that relates to Bedouins. Its why getting SA united into one country was a struggle. In Iraq, there are families that may dominate a village but they are not tribe like......with a separate culture, mores, customs etc.
