Hi betty, Frankly, I was surprised that the market was so surprised by ALTR's preannouncement. I understood (since July) this was going to be the case because R. Chaplinsky stated so in his Semiconductor Industry Updated which I posted on this thread: "the high density programmable logic device market, led by Altera (ALTR-Buy) and Xilinx (XLNX-Buy), continued to experience solid bookings and billings throughout the June quarter and are expected to show double-digit growth in the second quarter. techstocks.com To me, this appears to have an element of "seasonality" to it, rather than a pure case of soft demands...but will check with H&Q tomorrow.
