Lott supports Specter because Lott believes in going along to get along. He was a lousy Senate Majority leader, he let the Democrats roll right over him. Remember when the Senate was first 50-50, Daschle held out the olive branch, "we're all going to get along"? And Lott fell for that crap and there were co-chairs for committees? Until Jumping Jim Jeffords. Then all of a sudden Daschle started playing hardball. We got rid of Lott, we got rid of Daschle, and the Good Lord willing, we'll get rid of Specter. The Senate doesn't have to appoint him to chair the committee.
