I understand the comment -- and I certainly think Powell lived to please Bush, but I don't think he liked it. I think Belafonte's attitude is very much defeatist.

To be sure, Powell's history is one of going along to get along -- predictable for somebody who rose so high -- thing that is interesting to me -- is that even he found there was a limit to what he could go along with.

To me, even that, is an interesting story.
