I guess you haven't yet read the CEO comment about dividends being like an "entitlement" once you start? Seems to me kinda like stock options being perceived by him as an entitlement. So $1.3 Billion earnings flowed to the Retained earnings, but there was $500 million of cash flow, additional cash flow, that was syphoned off thru the buyback. But in sum shareholders got no benefit since it all and then some got handed back in stock options.
