Big telecom equipment makers invest in Juniper-WSJ NEW YORK, Aug 29 (Reuter) -- A number of big telecommunications and networking companies have invested $40 million in start-up Juniper Networks Inc to advance development of a device to speed up Internet communications, the Wall Street Journal reported. The companies are Sweden's L M Ericsson (LMEB.ST) AB (ERII.MI), Northern Telecom Ltd (NTL.TO), a Siemens AG (SIEG.F) and 3Com Corp (COMS) joint venture and UUNET Technologies(WCOM - news), the paper said in its electronic edition Friday. Lucent Technologies (LU) is also said to be an investor in the company, the paper said. Juniper, formed by Silicon Valley engineers and scientists, plans to create a new breed of switch router that can process information at rates of billions of bits per second, the paper said.
