I discussed this with a retired Marine today. He had watched the tape ten times last night. His conclusion was that the other combatant had indicated he wanted to talk. He could not tell much about the deceased combatant from the video. His gut feel is that the Marine will not be punished for his actions.

I have never been in a life and death situation. Given a choice between life, and being nice, life would probably win out every time. Would you choose life?
