It was poker night, and a couple of us
were telling the story of Elan. We
mentioned that a person might have made
thirty times his money if he had bought
it at a buck a share. One of the fellas
joked that we should have told him about
it, he would have put ten or 20k into it.
Well sure.

I do not remember too well, I try to forget...
but I probably rode it down from around $7 to
around $4--and then felt pretty good as it
fell so much more.

What stocks have tanked so much, so that I
would consider this sort of speculation at
a buck a share? (I cannot think of any) and
would a person ride it up 30x? (no).

Kinda fun to reminisce and wonder if you
could ever have the guts to do such a thing
again. I could certainly place several bets
like that with the money I have parked in
Cell Genesys, but I looked at the Yahoo list,
starting with the stuff that trades below book
value, and I don't see anything that looks
interesting. Lots of stuff I do not recognize
however...about half the names.
